Financing Climate Transition and Resilient Urban Development – How Swedish Cities Can Accelerate with External Funding - Capacity Building event in Sweden
How can Swedish cities accelerate their climate transition and build urban resilience with the help of external funding? Join us on December 4th in Stockholm for a full-day capacity building event, organised by the European Urban Initiative (EUI) and Viable Cities to explore just that.
Recognising the growing need among Swedish municipalities to strengthen their capacity to access and manage external funding, this national event brings together urban practitioners, national and regional authorities, and financiers to share knowledge, build skills, and foster collaboration.
Building on the study “Bridging the Gap – Exploring Innovative Financing Schemes in European Cities”, the guide “Externfinansiering för hållbar samhällsutveckling – En guide i åtta steg”, developed by the Swedish Model for Sustainable Urban Development, and experiences from Swedish and European cities successful in combining different funding sources for climate transition, we will together elaborate on the theme external funding. The event offers practical tools and inspiration to:
- Combine different funding sources to scale up local initiatives;
- Engage private investors and understand their perspective;
- Build municipal capacity through organisational models, routines and co-financing strategies;
- Navigate the European and national funding landscape, including EUI’s peer reviews and City-to-City exchanges.
From plenary sessions to interactive workshops and peer reviews, participants will gain actionable insights and leave with concrete strategies to mobilise funding for climate transition and sustainable urban development.
