This May, the European Urban Initiative (EUI) and URBACT Contact Point in Malta took part in national Europe Day events to raise awareness of EU-funded opportunities for local councils, citizens and stakeholders. 📍 3rd May – Victoria, Gozo 📍 9th May – Valletta, Malta These events provided a valuable opportunity to raise awareness about the opportunities offered by both the EUI and URBACT programmes. Our participation focused on outreach and engagement with local communities, regional stakeholders, and the general public. Highlights from the Events Support for Local and Regional Councils: We provided guidance on how councils can join and benefit from URBACT networks and EUI-funded city-to-city cooperation initiatives. Community Engagement: We interacted with citizens and students, highlighting the role of EU programmes in promoting greener, more inclusive, and smarter urban development across the Maltese Islands. Information Sharing: Informative materials were distributed, covering current and upcoming funding opportunities, capacity-building offers, and how to participate in future EU calls and networks. The session offered a unique opportunity to discuss the latest good practices on urban sustainable development, share experiences, and deepen cooperation for sustainable urban development.
