Healthy, sustainable and enjoyable school meals

Having encouraged healthy, sustainable eating for years, Schaerbeek’s pioneering municipal school De Kriek dreamt of incorporating cooking into the curriculum, involving the schoolchildren and connecting food with subjects like maths, geography, and health. Inspired by Copenhagen’s work promoting cooking in schools, Schaerbeek visited the city for a study exchange. Lessons learned would help De Kriek introduce its pilot sustainable food initiative with the EU-funded SchoolFood4Change project, as well as supporting Schaerbeek’s 2024 Sustainable Food Strategy and 2022 Climate Plan.
