Viana STARTS at Festival Marginal
Viana STARTS was present for the second consecutive year, promoting the principles of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) — sustainability, inclusion, and beauty — through various initiatives:
- a distinctive stand built with recycled materials, which set an example of more sustainable solutions;
- promoting conversations with the local community, listening to ideas, suggestions, and concerns about upcoming initiatives;
- Various workshops and demonstrations, such as a Raku workshop, alongside local art exhibitions, screen printing sessions, 3D printing, and other creative activities that brought the community closer to art, technology, and tradition.
The Marginal Festival – Festa no Jardim is already a meeting place for leisure, culture, and nature, offering a program open to all that includes concerts, workshops, exhibitions, and multiple experiences in the public spaces of Viana do Castelo. This year, in addition to consolidating its own identity, the Festival also reinforced Viana's role as the Cultural Capital of the Atlantic Axis 2025, valuing the active participation of projects such as Viana STARTS.
One of the highlights was the public presentation of the future STARTS Center in Viana, currently underway at the Old Municipal Slaughterhouse. The session allowed for sharing the objectives of the renovation, explaining the expected impacts and results, and, above all, discussing the local community's questions, perspectives, and expectations with the support of the project partners.
The involvement was not only felt on the ground: during and after the Festival, Viana STARTS saw a 12% increase in interactions on its social networks, a clear sign of the growing interest and willingness of people to follow and participate in the development of the project.
