A New Epoch Begins: Highlights from the NEW EPOCH Kick-off Meeting

The NEW EPOCH project officially kicked off with an inspiring launch event in the Municipality of Kifissia, bringing together project partners, municipal representatives, experts, and members of the local community to mark the start of a ground-breaking European initiative.

During the event, the project was presented to the public for the first time, outlining its ambition to transform three school buildings into Positive Energy Educational Buildings (PEEBs) with exceptional indoor comfort and environmental performance. These schools will not only serve students and teachers but will also operate as living labs, fostering knowledge, awareness, and innovation for the wider community, while acting as local hubs for energy sharing.

What makes NEW EPOCH truly innovative is its collaborative approach: 12 leading universities, research organisations, and private companies are working together—scientifically and socially—to co-create solutions that support urban resilience, sustainability, and behavioural change.

With an open discussion and active exchange of ideas, the Kick-off Meeting set the tone for a project that aims to inspire cities across Europe.
