by Water As The Source of Urban Public Space
Discover the project
At the Congres Publieke Ruimte (May 20, 2025, Bruges), Masterplan Binnendijle featured in the “Water in and as public space” session, presenting the Watsups initiative—Water As The Source Of Urban Public Space. The session explored how reconnecting citizens and nature to the city’s waterway can enhance public life and ecological resilience.
The presentation outlined the project’s vision: restoring the natural beauty and biodiversity of the Binnendijle, creating accessible waterfronts, a permanent swim zone, art interventions, and community-designed public spaces. These are being developed in collaboration with residents, artists, businesses, and ecological stakeholders, guided by community‑formed principles and European support.
Our project partner Thomas More (higher education) joined us to explain how AR/VR can bring your ideas to life.
