European Week of Regions and Cities

This year again, from 13 to 15 October, the European Urban Initiative will be present at the heart of the European Week of Regions and Cities, the largest Brussels-based event dedicated to regional and urban policy. Organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, this year’s edition—under the theme "Shaping Tomorrow, Together"—highlights how local and regional actors are key drivers of a more cohesive, resilient, and prosperous Europe. Curious to see what EUI has in store? Here's a glimpse of our activities throughout the week.

The European Urban Initiative (EUI) will play an active role throughout the week, offering valuable insights and tools for cities of all sizes—including Malta’s urban areas—to innovate, access EU funding, and build capacity for the future. Whether you're from a local council, national agency, research institute, or civil society organisation in Malta, this is a prime opportunity to:

  • Explore EUI funding tailored for cities—including a sneak peek of Call 4 for Innovative Actions, set to launch in early 2026.

  • Get one-on-one advice on urban project ideas and how to align them with EU priorities.

  • Discover Portico, the EU’s new knowledge platform for urban practitioners.

  • Hear success stories from innovative city projects across Europe—including lessons that could be adapted to the Maltese context.
