28–29 October 2025 | Hamburg, Germany
Are you working to make your city in Malta more walkable, bike-friendly, and people-centred?
We warmly invite Maltese cities, and mobility practitioners to take part in the EU City Lab on Active Mobility, co-organised by URBACT and the European Urban Initiative (EUI). The Lab will be held in Hamburg, Germany, from the morning of 28 October to the afternoon of 29 October 2025.
🔍 What’s it about?
This City Lab is a dynamic, hands-on event exploring how cities across Europe are increasing the share of active mobility and building more inclusive, sustainable urban transport systems. The programme focuses on:
-
Encouraging behaviour change to promote walking, cycling, and public transport.
-
Using data and technology to support integrated mobility, with attention to urban-rural linkages and functional urban areas.
-
Ensuring accessibility and inclusion, so that all residents—regardless of age, gender, ability, or location—benefit from active mobility.
-
Addressing the challenges faced by cities seeking to shift from car dependence to more sustainable transport modes.
🌍 Why attend?
As a Maltese city, your participation brings valuable perspective from a Southern European, island-state context, where space constraints, climate, and urban heritage all shape mobility choices. Any locality committed to greener transport—this is your opportunity to:
✅ Discover how Hamburg is putting active mobility into action through site visits.
✅ Learn from European cities pioneering integrated mobility systems.
✅ Exchange ideas and experiences directly with EU peers and experts.
✅ Bring back practical tools and inspiration to strengthen mobility planning at home.
Let’s shape the future of sustainable mobility—together with Maltese cities at the table.
