EPIC: Prato Launches the Kick-Off Phase of a European Vision for Industrial Tourism
This first working session marked the start of a 42-month journey to make Prato a leader in innovative industrial tourism, ahead of the official public launch planned for April 2025.
On December 4, 2024, the City of Prato hosted the kick-off meeting of EPIC – Experience Prato Industrial Culture, a European project funded by the European Urban Initiative (EUI). This internal milestone marked the start of the operational phase, bringing together all project partners to align on goals, methodologies, and upcoming activities.
Held at Prisma in Prato, the event served as a first working session between institutions, research bodies, tech providers, and local stakeholders involved in the 42-month project. EPIC builds on the foundations laid by the TIPO initiative and aims to transform Prato into a reference point for innovative, immersive, and sustainable industrial tourism.
Through a unique blend of physical and digital experiences, EPIC introduces the concept of never-ending tourism—a model designed to extend and enrich the visitor journey across time and space. The kick-off meeting laid the groundwork for upcoming public initiatives, including the official launch event scheduled for April 2025.
