Two ports, two stories, two cities

Ancona is an Adriatic Sea port known for commercial shipping, fishing and passenger travel, with a significant shipbuilding centre. Its rich cultural and historical heritage includes the 18th-century Mole Vanvitelliana. When a strategic plan identified regeneration of the port area as key to local urban development, diverse actions were launched to improve logistics and connect the port area better with the city. To take stock and guide future redevelopment efforts, Ancona decided to learn from Málaga on topics such as infrastructure improvements, stakeholder engagement and sustainable tourism.
