Alessandria has promoted cycling for years, with developments including a cycling network linking neighbourhoods, workplaces and recreational areas. But the city saw a persisting need to free up urban living spaces from cars, expand cycling infrastructure, and ensure accessibility and safety for all. Alessandria was looking for a better approach to promote sustainable mobility and boost tourism through smart urban development. This exchange with Dún Laoghaire was a chance to explore innovative ways to create a more sustainable, vibrant, community-centric urban environment, benefiting residents and tourists alike.
