Enjoy Avellino: actions for improving sustainable tourism in a participatory way

Avellino promotes sustainable tourism as an integral part of its broader local development efforts. City goals include revitalising urban areas, supporting craftsmanship, and expanding the local tourism offer. As part of this, Avellino is leading a consortium of municipalities to regenerate a new green corridor, while also promoting slow tourism. Avellino was looking for better, participative approaches to actively regenerate green areas and use them in sustainable tourism. The city decided to learn from Braga’s experiences, in particular its regeneration of the Minho area and development of urban-rural cooperation.
