Attracting new talents and becoming a welcoming city for youngsters for study and work

Pordenone faces a double challenge: the outmigration of educated young people; and increasing degradation and crime in certain areas close to the city centre. The municipality and university decided tackle both issues with one, integrated solution. They would revitalise central urban spaces to create a new, accessible university area attractive to higher education students. Pordenone decided to learn from Varna, who already had a multi-stakeholder urban development strategy to increase city attractiveness through stronger collaboration with their local university.
